SSC CGL Syllabus & Exam Pattern For Tier I, II, III, & IV

 

SSC stands for Staff Selection Commission, SSC is the only body who decide the syllabus of SSC CGL, and every year they release the detailed Syllabus of SSC CGL. With the help of the detailed syllabus, the Candidate can be Prepare strategically and in an asymmetric manner.

SSC CGL is a four phase exam. So these are the four phases in the SSC CHSL Exam. All Phases is very important. Every phase has its own criteria to pass a candidate. So now we are going to discuss the detailed syllabus of the SSC CGL.

SSC CGL Syllabus Tier I

The Tier 1 exam is an online, multiple choice based exam. The exam consist of 4 sections having 100 questions. The total marks is 200 for the Tier 1 Exam. And the duration for the Tier 1 exam is 60 min( 80  min for Differently abled candidates. There are four sections in Tier 1 exam:-

SSC CGL Syllabus Tier III

In the 3rd Tier year exam. The main focus is on Writing skill of candidate. So the candidate can choose the language himself/herself from Hindi/English.

It is to be considered that the minimum qualify marks for the Tier 3 exam are 33%. So, the SSC CGL Exam Syllabus for tier 3 is a Descriptive Exam which consist of :-

  • Letter Writing
  • Essay Writing
  • Application Writing
  • Precise Writing

SSC CGL Syllabus Tier IV

The SSC CGL Merit List is always based on Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 exams. There is Total 15 min of time duration. Tier 4 is a skill test involving two tests:-

  • Data Entry Skill Test (DEST)
  • Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)

DEST: Only those candidates who have opted for the Tax Assistant Posts in Central Excise & Income Tax will sit in DEST. Hence, DEST will be tested at 2000 key depressions per hour for 15 minutes. This test will be of qualifying nature. Computers for the test will be provided by the Commission at the Centre/ venue notified for the purpose. The Skill Test will be held at the Commission‟s Regional/ Sub-Regional Offices or at other Centres as may be decided by the commission.

CPTCPT is for those applicants who have applied for Assistant Section Officer Post in CSS only. Hence, candidates are supposed to appear for the Computer Proficiency Test to approve the selection and display their reassurance and comfort of computer usage. The Commission will hold Computer Proficiency Test (CPT), comprising of three modules: (i) Word Processing, (ii) Spread Sheet and (iii) Generation of Slides, for the posts of Assistant Section Officer in CSS, MEA & AFHQ, Assistant in Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Assistant (GSI) in the Ministry of Mines, Inspector (Central Excise), Inspector (Preventive Officer) & Inspector (Examiner) in CBIC. The CPT will be conducted in the manner decided by the Commission for the purpose. No exemption from CPT is allowed for any category of PwD candidates. CPT will be of qualifying nature.

 

SSC CGL Exam pattern – Important pointers:

  • Candidates should be careful while attempting any question as there is negative marking for wrong attempts.
  • As per the SSC CGL exam pattern, candidates can expect a deduction of 0.5 marks for each incorrect answer.
  • Candidates should be thorough with all the papers and practise a lot of question papers from the previous years.
  • Candidates should cover all important topics given in the SSC CGL syllabus for Tier 1.
  • The SSC CGL reasoning syllabus should be understood in-depth as it covers a vast number of topics.
  • Candidates should be very careful while going through the SSC CGL exam pattern as it is subjected to changes from time to time.
  • Candidates should take free mock tests based on the latest SSC CGL pattern. Solving mock tests will help candidates analyze their preparation for the upcoming SSC exams.
